1891 PCGS MS64 CAC
The 1891 Liberty Seated Dime is a late-date issue from the long-running Seated Liberty series designed by Christian Gobrecht. First introduced in 1837, the design features Liberty seated on a rock holding a shield and pole topped with a liberty cap, symbolizing vigilance and freedom. By the 1890s the series was nearing its end, with the design soon to be replaced by the Barber coinage beginning in 1892. Although the 1891 dime had a substantial mintage of 15,310,000 pieces, most entered circulation, leaving comparatively fewer survivors in higher Mint State grades.
This example is graded MS64 by Professional Coin Grading Service and further distinguished by a Certified Acceptance Corporation (CAC) sticker, confirming it as a solid or premium-quality coin for the assigned grade. PCGS reports 276 examples in MS64 with 261 graded higher, demonstrating that while available, attractive near-Gem pieces remain desirable to collectors assembling high-grade type sets or advanced Seated Liberty dime collections. With strong Mint State preservation and CAC approval, this piece represents an appealing example from the final years of the historic Seated Liberty dime series.
