1808 1/2 Cent PCGS AU53 Cohen 3 CAC
Cohen-3, the final Draped Bust half cent die variety, is interesting for its curiously shaped second 8 in the date. It was formed from stacked punches of the 0 in the fraction denominator. It is a Guide Book variety, since C-1 and C-2 are overdates.
This present example is the nicest AU example we have seen in the past 20 years. Considering the finest example is only MS64 we feel this is a splendid type coin pretty much unmarked and with carbon free surfaces. We hate spotted copper and wont buy or sell it!
Is this one a lot of money or did we actually price it stupid cheap? If you know coins you know its a DEAL!!!
We show a BROWN AU58 sold last year in a CA auction for $4,320 and this one is just as nice!
