A scarce early San Francisco issue and a terrific example for the Buffalo Nickel collector. The 1914-S had a mintage of just 3,470,000, and while circulated examples can be found, high-grade Mint State pieces are considerably tougher, with MS65 and finer examples considered rare. This coin combines strong Mint State preservation with the added confidence of a CAC endorsement, making it an especially appealing example of James Earle Fraser’s iconic American West design. 1914 was the year the Panama Canal officially opened, making this Buffalo a great little piece of America from a remarkable year in history.
