This is a lovely example of a hard to find Hawaiian cent!   A historic and highly collectible coin from the Kingdom of Hawaii, issued under the reign of King Kamehameha III. As the first official coin minted for Hawaii, it holds a special place in numismatic history. Struck in copper and featuring a portrait of King Kamehameha III on the obverse, the coin has "Hapa Haneri" inscribed on the reverse, which translates to "one cent" in Hawaiian.

The 1847 Hawaii Cent was produced by H.M. & E.I. Richards in the United States rather than in Hawaii. It’s famous for its distinctive design and has gained popularity among collectors, particularly because it represents Hawaii's unique monetary history before it became a U.S. territory. Many of these coins show signs of wear due to circulation, as they were heavily used, making higher-grade examples more valuable. The coin is an excellent addition for collectors interested in U.S. territorial coinage and Hawaiian history.
